Rainy Day playing with Focus (and a Bonus!)

Here's a new one, told you I'd stop doing nighttime pictures sooner or later...These are from a few days ago. Basically I was enjoying the rain and decided to see if I could do some higher speed pictures to catch the rain drops. I got two pretty good ones and learned a few things about the camera. On top of that, I was able to have some fun with focal lengths. The second two pictures are the same angle, just focused different...

BONUS:
This was me goofing around with the video ability for the camera...for future research.

Two New Night Shots (I promise to do some day shots soon)

I'm just having a ball with this camera...and I do realize the need to do some day shots...I'll get there. These two shots were literally just outside my door...one was a stroke of luck however. The whole reason I took these pictures was because I thought the fog and street lighting made a really cool image
This one was luck simply because my neighbor showed up, pulled in, backed up, and got ready to leave, which gave the bushes a nice illumination AND a short light trail. (20s, f/14, ISO 100)

This was what I was going for originally, lots of dark shadows lit up by the fog and lights...(10s, f/22, ISO 100)

Mocksville NC

Was coming home from my New Years Trip and happened glance over in Mocksville and saw they still had their Christmas lights up...I toyed with the idea for a moment and then pulled over to take a few photos. Both the camera and my tablet were running out of battery, and it was late and cold, so I didn't stick around too terribly long. Just took a few and got back on the road home. Again, some more long exposures, but less due to trying to get car lights, and more just to get a good shot of the Christmas lights.
Loved the way this building looked, was the first shot I took really.

Shot down main street, Focal Length 18mm, f/22, ISO 200, 64 second exposure

First Post- Long exposures and first attempts

Taking some inspiration from my sister, I'm going to try a blog for my photo's...I mean, it's that or overload my Facebook with them.  I bought a Canon Rebel T3 over Christmas and I've started playing around with it. I'm enjoying the long exposure settings as well as just the freedom of multiple lenses. I added dslr controller to my tablet and it's allowing me much more steady pictures with long exposure as well.

This was taken by basically shooting straight up for about a minute exposure time.

This was about a 5 minute exposure time at about 9PM at night

Same with this, just changed the angle a bit to get a different feel...it's insane the light pollution here

Went out to my street, sat on the curb, and took a few long exposure shots...I've always loved these kinds of shots, so I'm having a blast with them.

Another long exposure shot

Reverse angle looking the other way on the street.

This was shot on a cloudy day at about 8PM at night for about a minute 30 Exposure

Close up of my Christmas Tree, I thought the colors came out well

NCC-1701...boldly going where many ornaments have gone before (and Voyager in one episode of STVOY...It was a Q Episode, so it still counts as OK)
